Chris Axford Gym Superstar

Everyone at Maidstone Leisure Centre’s gym is excited about the brand new ‘state-of-the-art’ gym, but no one more so than Chris Axford, the Gym Supervisor. He’s worked in the old gym for the past six years and is delighted to offer members one of the best gym experiences in the South East. For years he has dreamt of being in charge of a fully equipped expansive gym, and now it’s a reality.

Extensive building works have transformed the old Invicta Hall into a new purpose built gym on two floors with defined areas for different types of workouts – cardio, stretching, fitness and free weights. TVs, the latest music, a bank of advanced bikes & treadmills, power plates, a bigger free weights area and a new air cooling system all contribute to the new top class gym. Supplied by Life Fitness, the new gym contains some of the best gym equipment in the South East – some at Olympic level. The old gym will be completely refurbished into new dance and spin studios. Gym users will also be able to change in style in new contemporary changing rooms.

The £4m refurbishment, funded by Maidstone Borough Council, will really put Maidstone Leisure Centre in the forefront of gyms in Maidstone and the South East, and rivals anything the private sector has to offer, at a snip of the price. The new gym opened on Saturday 16 January with the full leisure centre including new wet changing rooms, flume ride, toddler pool with water features, new café bar and new reception will be opening later in April this year.

Maidstone Leisure Centre boasts one of the best pool complexes in Kent.  With a Leisure lagoon, two flumes, diving pit, traditional 25 meter fitness pool and two teaching pools there is something for all ages and abilities.
