Maidstone Leisure Trust
Who are we?
The Maidstone Leisure Trust was formed in April 2007. It is responsible for the strategic management and development of a wide variety of leisure facilities and activities at Maidstone Leisure Centre.
The board comprises seven trustees chaired by Paul Alcock, the manager of The Mall Maidstone. It has an excellent mix of talents from various areas of the community and includes representatives from Serco – the centre’s managing agents.
Vision
Our aim is to provide, maintain and develop a first class range of health, leisure and recreational activities and facilities to serve the borough of Maidstone and the surrounding area.
Scope
We will work in partnership with the community, sports clubs and all relevant bodies including existing providers of relevant leisure and recreational activities, Kent County Council, Maidstone Borough Council, parish councils and potential funding partners.
Key current objectives
• To increase recreation and sport activities to help reduce childhood obesity
• To work with community partners to devise activities for young people in borough
• To encourage people over 50 to use the facilities at the Maidstone Leisure Centre
• To increase the number of people over 50 working in the leisure industry
• To encourage and enable the use of all facilities by people with disabilities
• To start a GP referral scheme
• To conserve energy and reduce waste
• To enhance existing facilities to meet community needs
• To use the Trustees contacts to increase partnership working
