Sports Injury Clinic

    Sports Injuries

SJK Injury Clinic is run by Simon Kavanagh, a degree graduate in sports therapy. Sports Therapists are the experts when it comes to soft tissue injury and impaired movement injuries, with experience in elite and professional sporting environments.

Simon Kavanagh is a fully qualified degree level sports therapist who has been practicing in Maidstone for over 10 years working with various sports teams including Maidstone United Football Club first team, Barnet FC Ladies & Youth Academy, Gillingham FC Youth Academy and Kent County Rugby.

Whatever your injury we will provide a comprehensive service that will help you recover quickly and return you back to activity promptly.

At your first visit a comprehensive examination and assessment will be carried out and an appropriate course of treatment will be recommended. This may involve mobilisation, electrotherapy, remedial exercise, soft tissue massage, manipulation, cryotherapy, sports nutrition and biomechanics.

Individual exercise programmes may prevent further injury whilst undoubtedly enhancing performance. The key to most injuries is injury specific rehabilitation which is where Sports Therapists come into their own. We aim to enable all patients, whatever their standard of sport or fitness, to receive treatment and rehabilitation levels comparable to that enjoyed by elite sportsmen and women.

What if my Injury is not sports related?

Your injury will be treated in the same way as any sports person but your rehabilitation won’t have to be so intensive. Following treatment you can go back to the gardening or walking or the everyday activities you enjoy.

To ensure up to date treatment and knowledge on all aspects of Sports Medicine all Sports Therapists must undertake continual professional development each year. This also helps to protect the public as it provides Therapists with full comprehensive insurance cover.
